They are selected based on merit and participate in a weekend development program coordinated by the 4 Atlantic Referee-in Chiefs. Officials do not get paid for their services.
The Championship takes place over a four-day period during the Thanksgiving weekend in October. Friday is travel, practice and/or exhibition play day, Saturday and Sunday are round-robin play and Monday is host to the Medal round play.
